What’s missing

Lying on your stomach under a tree in a grassy meadow, or swinging in a hammock next to the water’s edge, balmy summer day, bird song from the edge of the field or woods, a cold beverage (of your choice), sound of children’s laughter…what’s missing?

The book you can’t put down. It’s grabbed you and all ideas of going for a hike or swimming across the lake are gone. (“Please, no one stop by for a visit,” you think to yourself.)

So, what title comes to mind? We’d love to add it to tonight’s program: from 7-9 pm we build the annual NCPR Summer Reading List. Call us at 1-877-388-6277 or send those titles to me: ellen@ncpr.org

    Ellen:

I couldn’t resist; forgive me. But I will be listening tonight; always enjoy the show.

“lying on your stomach under a tree in a grassy meadow” … watch out for ticks!
“swinging in a hammock next to the water’s edge” … hear the whine of that jetski?!
“balmy summer day” … did you put on enough SPF 60 sunblock?!
“bird song from the edge of the field or woods” … undoubtedly an invasive!
“a cold beverage (of your choice)” … alcohol high in calories; soft drinks all sugar! “sound of children’s laughter” … not when I want to catch some z-z-z-’s!
“what’s missing?” … NOAA hazardous weather forecast – take immediate shelter!

You’re forgiven, Hank, as long as you send me a book title for the list!
