NPR Books of Summer
NPR has been talking this summer with great writers, critics and book mavens about one of the greatest pleasures of summer–having the time for recreational reading.
In their Summer Books series you can find the summer’s best Sci-Fi, recommendations for young adults, picks in new historical fiction, or in crime books–true and otherwise, along with hidden gems from lesser-known lights, steamy romance and more.
Also on offer are last year’s summer books, and other series for the voracious reader: 100 Best Books, My Guilty Pleasure, You Must Read This, Three Books and Risky Reads. Great listening and great reading–a two-fer from NPR.
You can also get the bottom line recommendations at NPR’s Summer Books 2012: The Complete List.

Without books, history is silent, literature is dumb, science is crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. –Barbara Tuchman
What a great list! I’m currently reading “Turkoise” by Joan M. Sargent. If you go to her website, http://jmsargent.com/, you can find out more about her and the book. It’s truly captivating, and I highly recommend it! I’ve been looking for another book for when I’m finished with this one and I now I’ve plenty to chose from! Thanks again!
