Quiet time

August 19th, 2010 by Dale Hobson

It wouldn't be the bittersweet end of summer without the added seasoning of the NCPR Summer Fundraiser, running Monday through Friday. In deference to your perhaps jangled sensibilities, this will be a "quiet" fundraiser, with limited on-air messages that don't interrupt your favorite programs.

No pre-set goal, no volunteer phone bank, a small set of discreet thank-you gifts, no endless repetition of "the number to call is…"  And Brian Mann will not be working himself up into a frenzy over the awesome spectacle of this member festival; Radio Bob will not have the phone number written backwards on his forehead so he can read it reflected in the control room window; Ellen will make no effort to blast you out of your hammock.

After all, you already know what to do and why it's up to you. We spare you the freaky halloween stuff, and you spare us whatever you can out of your budget. Just visit us online and make your gift.

So no hard sell, just an open invitation to drop by ncpr.org in the coming week to do your part to keep this member-supported operation operating.  Besides, you'll have as good a chance as anyone else of winning a sleek new iPad, guaranteed to score a seat for even the unlikeliest specimen at the Cool Kids' Table.
