Top Republican John Boehner campaigns in NY-20

If Republicans do very, very well this November, Ohio’s John Boehner could be the next House Speaker in Washington.

He’s hoping that Chris Gibson can help with that job.  Gibson is retired Army colonel from Columbia County who is challenging Glens Falls Democrat Rep. Scott Murphy.

Boehner plans to attend a fundraiser for Gibson tonight in Saratoga Springs.

According to the Glens Falls Post-Star, “Boehner will speak only with campaign donors.”

The event, at Saratoga Reading Room at 148 Union Ave., “is a private event, and there will be no media availability,” said Daniel Odescalchi, a spokesman for the Gibson campaign.

Boehner is not expected to be available to the media before or after the event, either.

“I don’t believe so, no,” Odescalchi said.

We’ve been largely preoccupied with NY-23 through the summer because of its far more dynamic Republican primary.  But we’ll be turning our attention to the NY-20 race in the weeks ahead.

Doesnt this seem odd? If I were candidate Gibson and my party leader was coming to my district, I would want to make as big a noise about it and gain as much publicity from it as I could.

John Boner needs to go back to Ohio. Why should we care who any outsiders think should represent us, dem or rep.

Somebody must have scheduled a golf outing for him to come all the way up here.

The media “lockdown” is to prevent a drunk, babbling fool from making an idiot of himself. And I ain’t talking about Gibson. Boehner is the poster boy for what’s wrong with the traditional Republican party establishment in Washington. Clueless, uninspiring, and completely devoid of any original ideas on how to turn the country around. And I say that as a registered Republican who is tired of these clowns gaining these crucial leadership positions and then wasting the opportunity to work with their counterparts across the aisle toward real compromise that might improve things.

We don’t want Anchor Boehners in NY.

I would like John Boehner to campaign for every Republican candidate in New York. Concentrating in the tightest races. Everyone should have an opportunity to see the Republican Party’s national leadership! Its best and brightest. The potential next Speaker of the House. I hope he is actively campaigning in every close race nation-wide. ; )
