Crown Point bridge underway

This week we’re looking at New York’s infrastructure in a series called State of Disrepair. Today Brian and I (David) and our families are crossing Lake Champlain on the temporary ferry. Later this week Brian will report on the new bridge’s progress (pictured).

Maybe 30 years ago, I read an article about America’s dependency on hydrocarbon fuels…not just to power our cars and trucks, but to manufacture the very asphalt and concrete we drive upon. The author predicted a day in which we as a society, could not afford to build the road OR fill the gas tank.
Thirty years ago……….. What if we had steered in a better direction way back then, What if we had listened to Jimmy Carter, turned down the thermostat, put on a sweater, and skipped the SUV years?
