The best food movies, cookbooks, and apps

I couldn't think of a photo to characterize this post. But this is a nice pic of some cucumbers from our garden. Photo: David Sommerstein.

I've been saving a few list links lately, so let's gather them here. Call this a list of food lists.

There are probably a ton more lists about food and agriculture out there. For example, I'd love to make a list of best food movies (non-activist category), just so I can put Big Night in the #1 spot. Got a list? Want to make one? Make it happen in the comment section!

  1. Before "Big Night" would have to come "Babette's Feast", "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman" and "Tampopo". After would have "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" just for starters.

  2. My favorite food movie is the Danish film, "Babette's Feast". When it was first released in '87, a Minneapolis restaurant teamed up with a local theater to offer the movie and dinner. The meal was based on food prepared in the film.

Other favorite food movies include Ang Lee's "Eat Drink Man Woman", and the 1971 "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" (all those chocolate bars!).
