Farms, food, and lots of photos
My family's famous pickles recipe is on my Instagram account – davidncpr. Does that make it a food account? Photo: David Sommerstein
To keep you busy this weekend, here's a fun list from Food Tank – the self-described food think-tank website – of their 66 favorite food-related Instagram accounts.
Famous chefs and food mavens like Anthony Bourdain, Alice Waters, and Jamie Oliver are on there. So are not-for-profs like Heifer International, Slow Food NYC, and Equal Exchange. Then there are individual farmers markets, like Green City Market in Chicago. And don't miss the National Geographic account – a no-brainer for a social media site based around photography.
My favorite discovery is the account of Carey Nershi, an Upstate New York native now living in Burlington and involved in the local agriculture scene there. And she makes incredible recipes like Curry-Spices Kabocha with Roasted Cauliflower & Sriracha-Coconut Creme Fraiche. Dang. Carey, if you're reading this, let's hear more about what you're up to!
And hey, here's a 67th Instagram account to follow – mine! Sure, it's not all food. But those are my grandfather's famous Kramer pickles from Russia. We make them every year. And there are no better pickles in the world. The recipe's in this book.
Have a great weekend!
