I loved my mother. . .

But I have to admit I’ve always been uncomfortable about Mother’s Day. So, at the risk of sounding like the Mother’s Day grinch, I’m linking this post to an article in today’s Salon.com which pretty closely articulates how I feel about this occasion. Now it’s true I always tell listeners to remember their moms (or dads on Father’s Day) but, hey, that’s my job. Having said all this, I have to confess that I’d love to hear from my son in Japan, though that’s true every Sunday, not just this one.  (Mom, I am thinking of you today…as I do almost every day since you died. Thanks for all you did.)

Why I hate Mother’s Day

And, oh, snow on Mother’s Day–our cars covered this morning–reminds me of a Mother’s Day about 10 years ago when I did the morning shift at the station and drove into town through a foot of snow. I love it.
