Truck farming with a twist
Phil Harnden, exec director of GardenShare, sent me this story a couple of days ago. Who knows, maybe Phil will get one of these going around here. Do check out the film–at least the second or third episode posted at the Truck Farm website. The people who brought us the film King Corn are behind this new project.
What interesting gardening ideas have you come up with or witnessed around your community? For me, one of the most innovative I’ve come across is Jeffrey Sellon’s floating garden on Raquette Lake. Not to be daunted by the dense old-growth forest around his camp, some years ago, Jeffrey built an “annex” to his dock–another dock with a greenhouse covering. Set on the lake, the greenhouse receives full sunlight and easy access to water for irrigation.
Remember, NCPR is hosting a lively north country gardening blog where you’ll find interviews, photos and gardening conversation and tips.
