All In is a place for everyone who works at NCPR to share behind the scenes activity, and surprising, curious, lovely or distinctly local tidbits from our travels around the region. We’ll post the best of what we find online, too. From time to time, you may hear from others—if you’d like to write an entry, send it to
[email protected]. What makes this place what it is? How do we connect to each other and the world? That’s what
ALL IN is all about.
Thanks for the laugh.
Actually, it might have been the result of a death panel. I heard Rudolph was sent out to pasture because Santa got a GPS for Christmas last year.
Another holiday chuckle. It is good to have a chuckle…but at another’s expense? Isn’t that another form of bullying?
We seem to focus on Palin so as not to have real discussions about politics/politicians and real news. Why does the media do this?
If the media didn’t ‘promote’ Palin, she would be just another Alaska mother who skirts her responsibilities.
But where are the stories about the homeless, the soldiers overseas, the struggling families, health care issues, the unemployed, etc. And why are we not addressing them?
Denial is rampant among us.
Claudia,
I thought twice about posting the Palin picture–precisely because I’m not inclined to make fun of other people, particularly those with whom I disagree. (More likely to rib friends and my own silliness.) But, there is a caveat–those who seek and obtain power are fair game for all kinds of criticism and pointed humor. These are the people who have an impact on all of our lives. The fourth estate’s job is indeed to report on critical issues (which I think you’ll find elsewhere on this website and on our airwaves), but it is also our job to use humor, cartoons, wit to reveal or draw attention to the foibles of those who would seek to lead us.
PS: My step-daughter says you make a good point, Claudia. And that I should make sure you know I agree with you, in spite of my initial response. And I do. Thanks for making all of us remember the important–really important–things touching peoples’ lives. Particularly at this time of year.
Thank you Ellen.
Happy holidays to you and your incredibly wise step-daughter and all your beloved family.
Claudia
