I’ve come to believe, however, that some of the most creative minds in media production are working (being wasted?) on creating advertisements…and the king of all media outlets is (not NCPR, I know you’re surprised) the Superbowl broadcast. I have to admit a certain curiosity about the ads–and zero curiosity about the actual game. Now, the solution: Monday morning quarterbacking of the latest crop of Superbowl broadcast ads…on line. I found a best/worst summary at slate.com, here’s the link.
And, yes, I went through and found my favorite:
Here’s the Slate.com columnist’s pick for the WORST:
And the BEST:
Who won the game, by the way? (Just kidding, I know the Jets finally won again.)
All In is a place for everyone who works at NCPR to share behind the scenes activity, and surprising, curious, lovely or distinctly local tidbits from our travels around the region. We’ll post the best of what we find online, too. From time to time, you may hear from others—if you’d like to write an entry, send it to [email protected]. What makes this place what it is? How do we connect to each other and the world? That’s what ALL IN is all about.
I watched the game and thought it was pretty good, mainly because Green Bay won.
The ads? Not impressed. So much money, so much nothing.
I don’t know where the idea of great Super Bowl ads ever came from unless it came from hype marketing by the ad companies.
I hate talking babies.
I think beer as a drink for a buzz is for wimps.
Light beer? Drink water.
Didn’t care much for the Black Eyed Peas. Again, mostly hype.
Ratings say the game was most watched program in TV history…111 million viewers which means that Ellen was one of roughly 2/3 of all Americans who didnt watch.

PS I’ve seen at least part of all 45 games
