by Dale Hobson on July 1st, 2011
This is the busy season for pyrotechnicians. Between Canada Day celebrations and the Fourth of July, the smell of black powder will be mixing with grill smoke all over the region. Here’s where and when the night will light up around the North Country and along the St. Lawrence:

Tuesday, July 5th
- Gouverneur, at dusk at the St Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Prior to the fireworks, the North Country Players Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m., featuring America-themed music.
Watching fireworks is sort of nice but not much fun. Shooting off fireworks is fun. Dangerous? Possibly but when danger is removed from everything, so to is the fun.
Lifeguards take away most of the fun at a beach. Playgrounds have become so safe I am glad I am not a kid anymore. I used to love getting a swing to swing so high the steel chains holding the wooden seat would start to go slack, then jumping off the seat at about 7 feet above the ground.
PS
You forgot to mention Indian Lake will have a parade from town center to Byron Park, starting at 7 pm on Sunday, July 3, and fireworks at Byron Park at dusk.
