Piece by piece…continued
Last summer I started tracking a North Creek community mosaic project being spearheaded by artist and teacher Kate Hartley.
Yesterday, I received some new photos of the work-in-progress and this message from Kate:
“I’ve stopped the mosaic for the winter. Just prior to it getting really cold, I got the wall all grouted and ‘put to bed’ to last through the cold weather. I’ll be teaching some classes for adults and teens beginning in January, and hopefully build up my base of volunteers. We’ll finish the first wall in the spring, and hopefully start on the second section in July. The second part of the ‘ideal spring day scene’ features a fly fisherman, a kayaker, and a ski mountain. We’ll be having a fundraiser in January, too! Thanks so much for keeping folks updated on our project! ”

This is truly a wonderful artistic project that benefits North Creek and the entire Gore Mtn/ ADK’s area. Kate Hartley is a wonderful artist and teacher. It is so much fun to know that local kids and adults were welcome to participate in this creation. I’m looking forward to helping next spring/summer. Thanks Kate for your inspiration.
