Took a drive to check on a ram we sold to a farmer over on Black Lake, and ice fishing was in full swing.

The “tip up” is a device used in ice fishing to signal a fish is on the line. Here’s a link to an article in Boys’ Life magazine if you want to make some tip ups. Here’s what a tip up looks like:

The flag is down until a fish is on the line. Then it pops up to alert you to the bite.
