{"id":12468,"date":"2014-10-04T08:00:18","date_gmt":"2014-10-04T12:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/?p=12468"},"modified":"2014-10-04T08:00:18","modified_gmt":"2014-10-04T12:00:18","slug":"everybody-knows-its-time-to-give","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/2014\/10\/04\/everybody-knows-its-time-to-give\/","title":{"rendered":"Everybody knows:  It&#8217;s time to give!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings again from Raleigh, North Carolina, where I am attending the <a href=\"ibma.org\" target=\"_blank\">International Bluegrass Music Conference and Wide Open Bluegrass \u00a0Music Festival<\/a>. \u00a0The event includes a large 3-day trade show where vendors offer everything from folding banjos to buffalo straps. \u00a0There are also several non-profit organizations that support bluegrass music, and this is fundraising time for them. \u00a0They have a captive audience in Raleigh, and they&#8217;re doing what it takes to spread the good word about their organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Every vendor is there to make money, but this post is about all the vendors that stopped their own sales pitches in order to stump for NCPR. \u00a0Each of them &#8211; from all over the US &#8211; knows the value of their own public radio station, and they were more than willing to help nudge NCPR listeners a little closer to giving. \u00a0After all, it&#8217;s really a way of helping your neighbors. \u00a0You don&#8217;t want them to have to pay your share too, do you?<\/p>\n<p>I met up with former String Fever host, and old friend, Danny Gotham. \u00a0Of course NCPR is dear to him &#8211; you still hear him on our airwaves when he makes his semi-annual trek back to his native region. \u00a0Here he is with a timely reminder:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12459\" alt=\"TTG Danny\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, it&#8217;s easy to get sidetracked when you&#8217;re surrounded by beautiful instruments and cool new kinds of picks. \u00a0Here he is, still strumming for the NCPR bucks:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-strumming-for-dollars.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12458\" alt=\"TTG Danny strumming for dollars\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-strumming-for-dollars-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-strumming-for-dollars-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Danny-strumming-for-dollars-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He ended up buying a very cool guitar pick from this guy:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12455\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2014\/10\/TTG-Blue-Chip-picks.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12455\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-12455\" alt=\"Yes!
