THE CHEESECAKE.  Kraft Cream Cheese is the reason for the festival.  In addition to being a major sponsor,  Kraft donates this ENORMOUS cheesecake.  It&#39;s FREE - to the first 4,000 dessert lovers!  Of course it&#39;s made with Kraft cream cheese.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_1530\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><strong>September means back-to-school&#8230; and back to the Lowville Cream Cheese Festival<\/strong><strong>! I was there on Sep. 17th\u00a0 for the 7th annual event, and it just keeps getting <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">CHEESIER <\/span>BETTER!<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/09\/91.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1530\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1530 \" title=\"9\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/09\/91-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/09\/91-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/09\/91-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><p id=\"caption-attachment-1530\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Meet Darrin Zehr, manager of the Kraft Cream Cheese Plant in Lowville.  He gets to officiate the cheesecake &#39;unveiling&#39; - and award fabulous prizes to the recipe contest winners! Eric is another festival founder.  All the staff and volunteers wear  those neat Cream Cheese shirts.  It takes over 200 volunteers to run this festival, and this year many of them came from seven area high schools. Great tasting entries are a given, but 1\/3 of the scoring is for creativity.  1\/3 is for presentation, and just 1\/3 counts for flavor.  It makes for gorgeous entries!
