Went through a lot of airport security checks, so this article from ProPublica (an independent online journalism nonprofit) jumped out at me from today’s email. I had passed through no less than five security checks before someone questioned my contact lens solution (over 4 fluid ounces) and made me discard it. Is there any substance that could cause damage to a plane at 4.1 fluid ounces vs. 3.9 fluid ounces? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for safe flying, but the gaps and inconsistencies in the security system are substantial.

Worse: when I went to download photos from my trip, no dice. Over a hundred black and empty squares. What did I do wrong? All I know is that I won’t be showing you photos of the North Sea taken from WWII German-built bunkers on the Danish coast (Hitler thought the Allied invasion would come through Denmark, hence the defensive build up there), or photos of perfectly manicured Danish fields and farm courtyards, or …maybe you’re glad my photos disappeared into the technological ether…

Traveled recently to see friends in Denmark.
