Many African Americans resent the allocation of a single month to recognize the contributions of black Americans to our history and culture. A great example of this position was part of a blog post I did last year at this time, featuring<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/2011\/02\/01\/blues-black-history-and-morgan-freeman\/\"> Morgan Freeman.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/USA\/Society\/2012\/0214\/Black-History-Month-Five-major-events-and-figures\/W.E.B.-Du-Bois\">Christina Science Monitor <\/a>has done a great job of shining the spotlight on the variety of opinions surrounding Black History Month and on some of the major contributions of African Americans.
