The problem will not be the warm, but the weird&#8211;more storms, freakier storms, deeper droughts, bigger floods.<\/p>\n<p>It seems to me that something similar is occurring in the news. As the 24\/7 news cycle heats up, and new media fans the flames, the news has gotten pretty&#8211;well&#8211;weird. Even if we exclude the face-eating zombie attacks, god particles, any headline containing &#8220;UFO,&#8221; and all the political news,\u00a0 the mean global weird level appears to be on the rise.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2415\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2415\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2415\" title=\"moldjesus\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/07\/moldjesus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/07\/moldjesus.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/07\/moldjesus-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2415\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Conclusive proof in Splendora bathroom.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I base this on science; an exhaustive fifteen minutes of research on Google yields the following evidence:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Man pulls out crossbow in road rage incident<\/li>\n<li>Ted Nugent&#8217;s drummer flees police in golf cart<\/li>\n<li>Bjork serenades Denmark in giant worm dress<\/li>\n<li>Squads of mimes deployed in an effort to reduce nighttime noise pollution in Paris.<\/li>\n<li>Legoland employees replace manager&#8217;s Volvo with model made from 200,000 Legos<\/li>\n<li>The Pope\u2019s astronomer says he would baptize aliens<\/li>\n<li>Two giant tortoises who spent 115 years as a couple &#8220;can&#8217;t stand the sight of each other any more&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Family finds moldy image of Jesus in their bathroom<\/li>\n<li>Dozens of poisonous snakes, destined to be made into wine, escape on bus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Leaving aside for a moment the question of why anyone would want to make wine from poisonous snakes,\u00a0 I have to wonder whether weirdness, like carbon, accumulates in the atmosphere, and whether over time, we will reach a tipping point of runaway weird.
