(pronounced &#8220;G&#8217;day&#8221;, in case you were curious).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Railroad Boys have been together since 2006, and have released two albums of (mostly) Jim&#8217;s originals.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0I&#8217;m watching a live performance, personality traits come through that you just can&#8217;t see on the cd:\u00a0 Fiddler Mat never stops moving on stage!\u00a0 Feet, arms, torso&#8230; all in motion; dancing shuffling, wiggling like a limberjack.\u00a0 Sten (mandolin) is always smiling.\u00a0 He looks happy to be playing music.\u00a0 It seems that everyone knows Bobby (bass) &#8211; and he&#8217;s Jim&#8217;s right-hand backup vocalist, so he keeps a close eye on Jim to keep those vocals really tight!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2514\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/Gaudet1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2514\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2514 \" title=\"Gaudet1\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/Gaudet1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/Gaudet1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/Gaudet1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2514\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Meet the band!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jim has a nice singing voice, and\u00a0his song\u00a0arrangements are not formulaic\u00a0or predictable.\u00a0 That makes the listening even better!\u00a0 His voice sometimes reminds me of Bob Dylan&#8217;s.\u00a0 His writing offers a refreshing absence of sappy love songs, but he has a talent for presenting\u00a0 universal subjects\u00a0 in a new and unusual light.<\/p>\n<p>Concerts like this don&#8217;t happen without help from lots of folks.\u00a0 Big thanks to Danielle and her staff at the Indian Lake Theater!\u00a0 Here they are behind the old-fashioned theater lobby vending counter:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2516\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/?attachment_id=2516\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2516\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2516\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2516\" title=\"DSCN4048\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/DSCN4048-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/DSCN4048-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/DSCN4048-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2516\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">That&#8217;s Danielle on the left!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On the NCPR end, Joel Hurd and Kevin Irwin worked all afternoon, setting up for flawless house sound and radio delivery.\u00a0 Joel mixed the radio sound, while Kevin mixed the house sound.\u00a0 Then they had to pack up every cord, plug, microphone, speaker, amp, and\u00a0musical doo-dad before they could leave\u00a0for the (late) drive home.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2517\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/?attachment_id=2517\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2517\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2517\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2517\" title=\"DSCN4050\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/DSCN4050-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/DSCN4050-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2012\/08\/DSCN4050-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2517\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kevin Irwin, hauling it all away after the show.
