I took a day off Sunday to see the sites…. I (of course) missed most ot P-Town’s Portuguese Festival, the Fado Concert, the all-you-can eat clam bar, the Blessing of the Fleet, but I did get to see a great show by the Berkeshire Samba Group… when 5 (of the 15 members of the band) hit those big “surdo” drums, the sound is amazing!\u00a0 Here’s a bad video I made using my $129 camera… can you still feel the energy?Berkshire Samba Group<\/a><\/p>\n

And since it was my day off, I decided to take a bike ride… but for only 29 miles.\u00a0 At one time I found myself riding in the midst of a LOT of bikers…. over 2,000 who were part of the Cape Cod Getaway for MS… they raised over $1.8M riding from Boston to P-Town in 2 days (150 mi).\u00a0 I accompanied them to their finish line (it was where I was going anyway) amidst cheers of “great work” etc.\u00a0 I had to shout back that I was an imposter!\u00a0 (I could have had free lunch and beverages, but in the spirit of fair play I declined.)<\/p>\n

I ended up at Race Point beach next to the old Life Saving Station.\u00a0 Cape Codders of the past alternately set up phony lights to lure unsuspecting mariners (and their rich cargoes) to disaster on the unpredictable sand banks of the area with setting\u00a0 up life saving stations to rescue mariners in distress.\u00a0 Here’s the last surviving example of such a station.<\/p>\n

I flew back on one the 9 seater Cape Air planes from P-Town to Saranac Lake.\u00a0 (the bike is heading home via Fedex)<\/p>\n
