I put over 300 miles on my car one day earlier this week–left DeKalb, where I live in St. Lawrence County, drove through Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake to \u00a0Essex and Westport, then back through Elizabethtown to Lake Placid, St. Regis Falls, Hopkinton, Potsdam and home. Many of us at NCPR spend hours on the road, particularly at this time of year. News staff are, of course, covering news stories; outreach and development staff are visiting with donors, attending special events, and meeting with station friends.<\/p>\n

Here’s a visual recap of some of my stops on this particular road trip:<\/p>\n

At the entrance to Essex Farm, a CSA feeding 120 people a wide variety of meats, vegetables and dairy products raised and processed on this farm.<\/p><\/div>\n

Then, over to Lake Placid.<\/p>\n

Then, homeward bound, through St. Regis Falls. I didn’t take the short cut because I wanted to see Ev Smith’s power station on the St. Regis River…and check water flow after all the rain we’ve had. Pretty neat to have a small power generator working away right there by the side of the road and owned by someone I know (Ev is married to our news director, Martha Foley).<\/p>\n
