{"id":473,"date":"2010-08-04T13:37:37","date_gmt":"2010-08-04T17:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/?p=473"},"modified":"2010-08-04T16:10:02","modified_gmt":"2010-08-04T20:10:02","slug":"county-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/2010\/08\/04\/county-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"County fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our summer news intern, Sarah Harris, was assigned the St. Lawrence County Fair for her final human interest feature.\u00a0 Along with three others, I joined her yesterday evening on the excursion to Gouverneur.<\/p>\n<p>County fairs have changed in the four decades I&#8217;ve been going&#8211;much of the\u00a0change\u00a0a result of small farms being consolidated into much larger enterprises.\u00a0Still, some things\u00a0are still the same, maybe just fewer people participating, like the kids and families tending to animals before and after judging.\u00a0 And, fear not. The animal barns are my favorite. But if you want to see Sarah getting on and stumbling off the worst ride at the fair, scroll down.
