We were at the Clayton Opera House last night. The COH is in full swing with an amazing line up of events organized by the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund. Last night: Los Lobos, yes, Los Lobos. They performed to a sold out crowd. The COH is one of those wonderfully intimate venues, beautifully refurbished in recent years through community effort. It’s a gem. Get over to Clayton and check out the COH. Amy Flack, the Executive Director, and the Board, led by Pete Colello, have put together a fabulous line up of performances. Los Lobos were fabulous. Wild, musical, LOUD, rockin’, swingin’, thumpin’, surprising, exciting, and as tuned into the crowd as the crowd was tuned into them.<\/p>\n

Do check out their new cd, Tin Can Trust. They ended the show (before the encore) with a fabulous medley of La Bamba\/True Love. Couldn’t find any good recent versions on YouTube, but did stumble on this wonderful clip from the 1980s movie, La Bamba, about Richie Valens, which featured–and catapulted to greater fame–the young East L.A. group, Los Lobos.<\/p>\n
