Ours is not an easy attic to get to,<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_541\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/foot2.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-541\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-541\" title=\"foot\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/foot2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/foot2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/foot2.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-541\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My foot searching for a toehold<\/p><\/div>\n<p>and (it appears) that I stored most of the stuff there prior to 1985, when we built a garage.\u00a0 (which now also has a full attic)\u00a0 And what a treasure-trove of useless junk I discovered!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_542\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/attic-junk.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-542\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-542\" title=\"attic junk\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/attic-junk-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/attic-junk-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2010\/09\/attic-junk.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-542\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NOT yard-sale grade!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A 1982 Timex-Sinclair 1000 &#8220;personal computer&#8221;&#8230;. billed as &#8216;The First Personal Computer Under $100&#8221;\u00a0 It has 2 kb of RAM memory!\u00a0 (that&#8217;s at least 100,000 times less that whatever computer\u00a0 you&#8217;re using now has!)<\/p>\n<p>A reel-to-reel tape deck that my cousin brought back from Vietnam.\u00a0 (analog tapes, come on!)<\/p>\n<p>A clock with ROMAN numerals.<\/p>\n<p>Car radios with built-in cassette decks, tubs of electron tubes&#8230; and the best (and most useless item)&#8230;\u00a0 our first TV (handed down from the in-laws) &#8230;. although it apparently still works, there are no longer any analog TV stations to watch. I remember viewing &#8220;Falcon Crest&#8221; on this thing.
