Your cards and calls, email and Facebook messages, your gifts in honor of my late husband, the flowers and poems and food and letters, your condolences and remembrances–it has all helped me navigate through the terrain of loss.<\/p>\n

Thank you.<\/p>\n

So many of you I’ve never met, and yet your kind words have meant so much to me. Ordinarily, I would not use this space for such a personal message of thanks, but I know of no other way to make sure that all who reached out to me understand how I much I have appreciated each word of empathy and sympathy.<\/p>\n

For those who regularly visit ncpr.org or listen to our radio station, I want you to know that the NCPR staff has been generous, supportive, and loving beyond what I thought possible from colleagues. I tell you this because you may think of our staff as journalists or fundraisers or digital wizards. But they are also warm and caring people who rushed to help me–their comrade downed by grief. I thank each of them for holding my hand through the past three weeks.<\/p>\n

There are so many people who face loss alone. So, as I move back into the world and work, I feel blessed and lucky. Yes, I have lost my beloved partner, but you have made me feel beloved. I am floating on your kindnesses. You have made it possible to move forward.<\/p>\n
