This Marine Iguana didn&#8217;t budge as 16 members of our tour group hiked passed him on an island trail.  He kinda reminds me of a big gecko.  But actually this fellow can dive to 30 feet, hold his breath for an hour and feeds on algae.<\/p>\n<p>This week, I plan to post more photos and brief stories about our winter (summer, actually in Peru) trip.<\/p>\n<p>Yes &#8212; we visited Lonesome George and the other Galapagos tortoises.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/01\/photo2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-812\" title=\"photo2\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/01\/photo2-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Todd and the tortoises\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/01\/photo2-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/allin\/files\/2011\/01\/photo2.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They still roam wild on some of the islands, but we also toured the Darwin Research Center &#8211; a haven for these gentle giants.
