When I was growing up my mother used to say, “We can put man on the moon but we can’t cure the common cold.” We put our first man on the moon 40 years ago but we’re no closer to a cure for the cold. Here’s what we know (the cold, you will notice, is the same regardless of which continent you live on):<\/p>\n

About a week or so ago, I used this blog for a couple of entries about “the commons.” Seems to me I left off another we hold in common: cold germs. Someone out there has shared their cold germs with me. I’m headed home. I don’t think anyone here at the station is interested in this particular part of the commons.<\/p>\n

By the way, I know lots of people who think they have “the cure” for the cold–like the untold number of cures for the hangover. I’m skeptical of both, but do feel free to share your cures here.
