The DC-based political action committee, Club For Growth, is spending $250,000 on a radio and TV ad on Hoffman’s behalf.

A couple curious things, though.

The TV ad doesn’t even mention Hoffman or his party. It just takes swipes at Republican Dede Scozzafava and Democrat Bill Owens, associating them with, respectively, David Paterson and Nancy Pelosi. That seems like a strange move when today’s Siena College poll found 71% of respondents have no opinion on Hoffman or don’t know him.

Even more eyebrow raising is something Politico noticed (hat tip, Jude Seymour). The TV ad is virtually identical to one Club For Growth used in a Maryland congressional race last year. Different names, but almost the same exact script.

Check ’em out for yourself.

Good news today for 23rd district Conservative party candidate Douglas Hoffman.
