Harper&#8217;s best advisor?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A postscript to the rave reviews Prime Minister Harper garnered for his appearance at a recent charity gala in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, <a href='http:\/\/www.ottawacitizen.com\/entertainment\/Harper+gets+stage+with+little+help+from+wife\/2064118\/story.html'>most of the credit belongs to his wife<\/a>, Laureen Teskey Harper, who keeps a low profile but is known to possess a shrewd political mind.<\/p>\n<p>Laureen Harper has been an active honorary chair of the National Arts Centre&#8217;s past four gala events. Last year, she refrained from attending in the wake of her husband&#8217;s controversial remarks.  <\/p>\n<p>According to an <a href='http:\/\/www.pm.gc.ca\/eng\/feature.asp?pageId=28'>official biography<\/a> on a government website, Laureen studied photography and graphic arts at technical college.  She has traveled widely in Africa and had a career as a graphic artist in Alberta before politics brought her family to Ottawa.    <\/p>\n<p>The Harpers take in foster kittens for the Ottawa SPCA.
