{"id":1188,"date":"2009-10-27T05:39:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-27T09:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/10\/27\/new-york-post-endorses-hoffman\/"},"modified":"2009-10-27T05:39:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-27T09:39:00","slug":"new-york-post-endorses-hoffman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/10\/27\/new-york-post-endorses-hoffman\/","title":{"rendered":"New York Post endorses Hoffman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another media outlet that traditionally supports Republican candidates has thrown its weight behind Conservative Doug Hoffman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/p\/news\/opinion\/editorials\/doug_hoffman_for_congress_21sqalnJNLjOEpD7JEOHaJ\">The New York Post<\/a> &#8212; acknowledging that this race is a fair distance from its own back yard &#8212; urges voters to choose Hoffman over the GOP&#8217;s pick, Dede Scozzafava.<\/p>\n<p>The Post is known for purple prose and this endorsement is no exception. <\/p>\n<p>The paper blasts Republicans for nominating Scozzafava, calling it &#8220;an obscenely corrupt political bargain by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/t\/U.S._Republican_Party\" class=\"topiclink\">GOP<\/a> bosses that sells out their party.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The truth, of course, is that Hoffman initially praised the nominating process and offered to support Scozzafava, before hoisting the Conservative Party flag.<\/p>\n<p>The Post also leans on the canard that the much-vilified Acorn has anything to do with this race.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the Working Families Party (which does have ties to Acorn) has endorsed Democrat Bill Owens, not Scozzafava.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how North Country newspapers view all of this.
