{"id":1189,"date":"2009-10-27T05:53:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-27T09:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/10\/27\/video-calling-out-bill-owens-doug-hoffman-for-not-debating\/"},"modified":"2009-10-27T05:53:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-27T09:53:00","slug":"video-calling-out-bill-owens-doug-hoffman-for-not-debating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/10\/27\/video-calling-out-bill-owens-doug-hoffman-for-not-debating\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: Calling out Bill Owens, Doug Hoffman for not debating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News 10 Now&#8217;s Bill Carey produced an excellent spot castigating Bill Owens and Doug Hoffman for not taking part in their Monday night debate.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s well worth watching.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"400\" height=\"324\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/LGyOEfX3Bhs&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/LGyOEfX3Bhs&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"400\" height=\"324\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Democrat Owens and Republican Dede Scozzafava have agreed to attend Wednesday evening&#8217;s debate, co-sponsored by NCPR, in Plattsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>But Doug Hoffman has declined to attend, with his campaign citing &#8220;other stuff&#8221; on the schedule.<\/p>\n<p>It now appears that Hoffman will hit election day without participating in a single forum or publci debate.  <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Scott Atkinson is the long-time news director at WWNY-TV in Watertown, which had also tried to arrange a debate.<\/p>\n<p>Atkinson said, &#8220;The people who actually have to go to the polls next Tuesday and cast ballots aren&#8217;t going to know anything other than the canned messages that they&#8217;ve gotten from the candidates.
