{"id":1198,"date":"2009-10-28T14:24:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-28T18:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/10\/28\/dems-say-hoffman-is-the-man-to-beat\/"},"modified":"2009-10-28T14:24:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-28T18:24:00","slug":"dems-say-hoffman-is-the-man-to-beat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/10\/28\/dems-say-hoffman-is-the-man-to-beat\/","title":{"rendered":"Dems say Hoffman is the man to beat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Democrats have shifted all their attacks to Conservative Doug Hoffman, as the NY-23 congressional race threatens to slip through the fingers of both major parties.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/64997-dems-focusing-solely-on-hoffman-in-new-york\">The Hill<\/a> is reporting today that Democrats suspended all attacks against Republican Dede Scozzafava on October 20th.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re firing now at Hoffman&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[S]ources in Hoffman&#8217;s camp and among Democrats with knowledge of the race each<br \/>say private polls show a two-way contest between Hoffman and Owens, leaving<br \/>Scozzafava out in the cold.&#8221;This race is neck and neck between Owens and<br \/>Hoffman,&#8221; said DCCC spokesman Ryan Rudominer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Initially Hoffman looked like the classic spoiler, poised to knock out Scozzafava while opening a path to victory for Democratic newcomer Bill Owens.<\/p>\n<p>Now it appears that Hoffman could solidify conservative and Republican voters, eking out a victory.<\/p>\n<p>Early on, Hoffman&#8217;s team predicted that he would accomplish just this feat.
