Bill Owens is a firm Yes on the health care reform package in the House. <\/p>\n<p>Rep. Mike Arcuri, whose district includes the area around Old Forge, and Rep. Scott Murphy from Glens Falls still haven&#8217;t signed on. <\/p>\n<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.observer.com\/2009\/politics\/massa-im-no-no-matter-what\">NY Observer<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2009\/11\/06\/us\/politics\/politics-us-usa-healthcare-hoyer.html\">&#8220;we&#8217;re very close&#8221;<\/a> to getting the 218 votes needed to pass the bill. Several other upstate Democrats in the House&#8211;Dan Maffei, Mike Arcuri and Scott Murphy&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theithacajournal.com\/article\/20091105\/NEWS01\/911050426\/Health+care+bill+splits+upstate+delegation\">are undecided<\/a> on the bill. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In a vote this close, the North Country seats that Dems have picked up since 2006 (Arcuri, Murphy, Owens) could make a difference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Freshly-sworn-in Rep.
