Scott Murphy (D-Glens Falls).

The headline of these adds: “Rep. Scott Murphy BETRAYAL of Democrats.”

It follows with: “Voted to kill health care reform in congress.”

Murphy was one of the few New York state Democrats to vote against the health care reform package developed in the House.

The organizers of this ad campaign, calling itself the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, urges donors to help defeat Murphy, along with NY Dems Eric Massa and Michael McMahon.

Politico has reported that “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her regional whips pushed hard” for a Yes-vote from Murphy, but in the end accepted his “thumbs-down as a political necessity.”

For his part, Murphy has criticized aspects of the bill which drew little national attention, including tax increases that would affect Finch-Pruyn Paper and regional medical device companies.

He also decided to oppose the idea of a public option, arguing that “people in our district do not want a single payer option.”

UPDATE: Rep.
