{"id":1361,"date":"2009-12-01T10:52:00","date_gmt":"2009-12-01T14:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/12\/01\/college-cuts\/"},"modified":"2009-12-01T10:52:00","modified_gmt":"2009-12-01T14:52:00","slug":"college-cuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/12\/01\/college-cuts\/","title":{"rendered":"College cuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a move that will like draw attention from across the North Country, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs is cutting 70 positions. <\/p>\n<p>This from the <a href=\"http:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/local\/article_ebc45326-de85-11de-b17d-001cc4c002e0.html\">Glens Falls Post Star<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The decision to pare the school&#8217;s work force was made after projected income for the 2011 fiscal year dropped 8 percent, roughly $12.6 million, from earlier estimates, school administrators said.<\/p>\n<p>The shortfall reflects declines in expected tuition income, a fall-off in alumni donations and less-than-expected interest payments.<\/p>\n<p>The school&#8217;s endowment fund has also taken a hit.
