Just before Christmas, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that rather than shutting down many of the services at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center there, the state would become a “Center for Excellence” specializing in children’s care. The Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority also announced plans for a $10 million expansion at Ogdensburg International Airport that it says could bring in 40,000 passengers per year (WWNY-TV).

The Watertown Daily Times reports today that the city’s mayor, William D. Nelson, is looking for more of the same in the coming year (not surprisingly): He’s looking particularly toward the waterfront. Here’s what he told the paper:

Redevelopment of the waterfront, particularly the sites we identified as priorities, Diamond International, Standard Shade Roller and the former Alliance Marina property, will be a priority in 2014…We will be seeking funding sources for items such as infrastructure to facilitate the development of these properties.

Redevelopment proposal requests will go out later this year. Ogdensburg has been working for a while on its plans to revitalize its waterfront on the St. Lawrence River; you can find out more about its plan here.

The last month or so has been good for Ogdensburg.
