{"id":1475,"date":"2010-01-06T11:33:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-06T15:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/01\/06\/gillibrand-may-face-primary-challenge\/"},"modified":"2010-01-06T11:33:00","modified_gmt":"2010-01-06T15:33:00","slug":"gillibrand-may-face-primary-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/01\/06\/gillibrand-may-face-primary-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Gillibrand may face primary challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/01\/06\/nyregion\/06ford.html?hp\">The New York Times is reporting <\/a>former Tennessee Congressman, Harold Ford, Jr., may challenge Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in a Democratic primary this fall.<\/p>\n<p>The article says Gillibrand still hasn&#8217;t made gains with New York City Democrats, who were skeptical of her to begin with:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Some of the donors who have urged Mr. Ford to consider a run expressed alarm as Ms. Gillibrand, who as a congresswoman represented a conservative upstate district, has abandoned some of her previous positions on issues like gun control and <a href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/subjects\/i\/immigration_and_refugees\/index.html?inline=nyt-classifier\" title=\"More articles about immigration.\">immigration<\/a> as she prepares to run statewide. Several executives interested in a Ford candidacy said that Ms. Gillibrand\u2019s positions echoed Mr. Schumer\u2019s and that the state needed a second independent voice in the Senate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gillibrand has amassed a lot of money for her 2010 election bid.
