{"id":1585,"date":"2010-02-09T11:18:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-09T15:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/02\/09\/politico-predicts-another-gop-rift-in-ny-23\/"},"modified":"2010-02-09T11:18:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-09T15:18:00","slug":"politico-predicts-another-gop-rift-in-ny-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/02\/09\/politico-predicts-another-gop-rift-in-ny-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Politico predicts another GOP rift in NY 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The online n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0210\/32704_Page2.html\">ews magazine Politico<\/a> says the rift between Conservatives and Republicans may shape this November&#8217;s race for the NY-23 seat now held by Democrat Bill Owens.<\/p>\n<p>According to Politico, Lake Placid accountaint Doug Hoffman will run again and:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>his leading backer, Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long, told POLITICO that he refuses to endorse any candidate other than Hoffman \u2014 raising the prospect of another contest in which a fracture on the right enables Democratic Rep. Bill Owens to skate to victory.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Long, Hoffman already has the Conservative Party&#8217;s endorsement and other Republicans need not apply. <\/p>\n<p>This, despite the fact that Hoffman lives outside the district.  Politico quotes Republican Will Barclay, who says he&#8217;s interested in the race:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOne person can\u2019t say who\u2019s going to be the candidate.
