{"id":1588,"date":"2010-02-10T00:11:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-10T04:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/02\/10\/42-of-republicans-want-comprehensive-healthcare-reform\/"},"modified":"2010-02-10T00:11:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-10T04:11:00","slug":"42-of-republicans-want-comprehensive-healthcare-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/02\/10\/42-of-republicans-want-comprehensive-healthcare-reform\/","title":{"rendered":"42% of Republicans want comprehensive healthcare reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know, I know &#8211; it&#8217;s nearly impossible to say at this point what &#8216;comprehensive healthcare reform&#8217; means. <\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s still interesting, given all the talk of this being a dead issue, that so many Americans still want Congress and the President to get this done.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, roughly two-thirds of respondents in a new <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/behind-the-numbers\/2010\/02\/americans_spread_the_blame_whe.html?hpid=topnews\">Washington Post-ABC News<\/a> poll say they want a bill passed.  <\/p>\n<p>That includes 56% of independents and a whopping 88% of Democrats. But it also includes a sizable minority of the GOP&#8217;s supporters.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line?  This is important to people&#8217;s lives, especially as more companies are dumping private insurance every day.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also incredibly tricky political territory.  Neither party wants to be seen as intractable.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats know that their base wants something done.
