{"id":1647,"date":"2010-02-23T17:23:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-23T21:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/02\/23\/tupper-lake-school-contemplating-30-job-cuts-next-year\/"},"modified":"2010-02-23T17:23:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-23T21:23:00","slug":"tupper-lake-school-contemplating-30-job-cuts-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/02\/23\/tupper-lake-school-contemplating-30-job-cuts-next-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Tupper Lake school contemplating 30 job cuts next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/adirondackdailyenterprise.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/511423.html?nav=5008\">Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting<\/a> that Tupper Lake&#8217;s school district could lay off as many as thirty people next year.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes as North Country school districts face shrinking state aid from Albany.<\/p>\n<p>Tupper Lake superintendent Seth McGowan told the newspaper that if things don&#8217;t improve, &#8220;there will be some layoffs happening for sure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One school board official told the Enterprise that the economic impact on Tupper Lake could be &#8220;devastating.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>School board President Mike Dechene said there is a possibility that as many as 30 school employees would have to be let go.
