Scott Murphy (D-Glens Falls) in this year&#8217;s election &#8212; and so far county leaders are divided on who should carry the GOP banner.<\/p>\n<p>Queensbury town supervisor Dan Stec failed to win county support last week, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.timesunion.com\/capitol\/archives\/23984\/and-then-there-were-two-2\/\">has officially dropped out<\/a>. That leaves two men in contention:  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ziegler2010.com\/node\/1\">Patrick Ziegler<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.resistnet.com\/group\/2010candidatescorner\/forum\/topics\/independent-republican-and-tea\">tea party activist<\/a> from Burnt Hills has been endorsed by Essex and Warren County Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgibsonforcongress.com\/about.html\">Chris Gibson, a former Army colonel<\/a> who lives in Kinderhook, has been endorsed by Saratoga County Republicans, the most powerful committee in the 20th district.<\/p>\n<p>While Republicans work to unify, Murphy has been fundraising aggressively and preparing for what is expected to be a stiff challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy announced on Friday that he will vote Yes on the Democratic healthcare bill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s down to two Republican candidates vying to challenge freshman Rep.
