{"id":1798,"date":"2010-03-24T14:28:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-24T18:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/03\/24\/environmental-shake-up-gibson-ousted-as-head-of-protect-the-adirondacks\/"},"modified":"2010-03-24T14:28:00","modified_gmt":"2010-03-24T18:28:00","slug":"environmental-shake-up-gibson-ousted-as-head-of-protect-the-adirondacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/03\/24\/environmental-shake-up-gibson-ousted-as-head-of-protect-the-adirondacks\/","title":{"rendered":"Environmental shake-up: Gibson ousted as head of Protect the Adirondacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/northcountrypublicradio.org\/blogs\/ballotbox\/uploaded_images\/gibson-762053.jpg\"><img style=\"float:right;margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;width: 126px;height: 167px\" src=\"http:\/\/northcountrypublicradio.org\/blogs\/ballotbox\/uploaded_images\/gibson-762042.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>Phil Brown broke the story over at the<a href=\"http:\/\/adirondackexplorer.org\/out-takes\/2010\/03\/19\/gibson-out-as-protects-executive-director\/\"> Adirondack Explorer<\/a> that veteran conservationist David Gibson has been asked to step aside as executive director of Protect the Adirondacks.<\/p>\n<p>This is the newly formed group created last year from a merger of the Residents Committee and the Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks.<\/p>\n<p>Gibson has been a prominent and respected leader in the environmental community since 1987.  <\/p>\n<p>In an interview with NCPR today, he was frank about the fact that he didn&#8217;t resign his post willingly: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I signed on to be executive director and was doing that job to the best of my ability.  The board had obviously a different point of view and wanted different leadership.  Protect still hasn&#8217;t hit a year yet in its existence.  So that&#8217;s a decision they made and I&#8217;m adjusting to a new role.
