Griffo said through a spokesman that the fact that he did not sign onto the letter of support for Skelos \u201cshould speak for itself and send a message\u201d. Griffo wouldn\u2019t clarify his stance further than that, except to say that he\u2019s working internally in the conference to help determine what happens next.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.timesunion.com\/capitol\/archives\/233513\/and-they-called-them-deans-sixteen\/\">A letter was issued last night signaling strong support<\/a> for embattled Republican Senate majority leader Dean Skelos.\u00a0 Prominently missing from that list, however, are three powerful North Country lawmakers, including Betty Little, Joe Griffo and Patty Ritchie.<\/p>\n<p>One North Country senator who did sign the statement was Hugh Farley (R-Schenectady County), the former Indian Lake and Watertown resident, whose district now winds deep into the Adirondack region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly believe that Senator Dean Skelos should remain on as Majority Leader of the New York State Senate,&#8221; the statement reads.\u00a0 &#8220;He has the leadership we need to move the Senate forward so that we can continue to do the people\u2019s work and finish out this year\u2019s session in a productive manner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move came after Democrats tried and failed to oust Skelos from the top leadership post as the latest scandal embroiled Albany.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in an interview with the Glens Falls Post Star (UPDATE), Senator Betty Little called for Skelos to resign his leadership post. \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate, but it\u2019s just not going to work this way,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/local\/rep-little-calls-for-skelos-to-leave-majority-post\/article_e9e818db-52a2-56c8-b28e-8ec9c3e2bb8c.html\">she said in a telephone interview on Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Previously speaking with the <a href=\"http:\/\/adirondackdailyenterprise.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/552523\/Is-being-ethical-that-hard-.html?nav=5008\">Adirondack Daily Enterprise<\/a> this week, Little signaled support for Skelos at least in the short term.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s so many things we need to get done,&#8221; she said.
