{"id":205,"date":"2008-11-03T11:25:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-03T15:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2008\/11\/03\/vt-kicks-ny-butt-in-earmarkpork-money\/"},"modified":"2008-11-03T11:25:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-03T15:25:00","slug":"vt-kicks-ny-butt-in-earmarkpork-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2008\/11\/03\/vt-kicks-ny-butt-in-earmarkpork-money\/","title":{"rendered":"VT kicks NY butt in earmark\/pork money"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new analysis of earmark spending finds that Vermont is outpacing New York state in Congressional earmark spending &#8212; pork, some call it &#8212; by epic margins.<\/p>\n<p>New York&#8217;s congressional delegation has a reputation as liberal tax-and-spenders, but they bring home an average of $24 per capita in earmark spending.<\/p>\n<p>Vermont&#8217;s delegation, on the other hand, brings home a whopping $123 per person.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, 9 of the top 10 states bringing home tons of pork are rural &#8212; and most are Republican red states.  <\/p>\n<p>Alaska &#8212; home of Governor Sarah Palin &#8212; is tops in the nation.
