{"id":2051,"date":"2010-05-07T09:31:53","date_gmt":"2010-05-07T13:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=2051"},"modified":"2010-05-07T09:36:19","modified_gmt":"2010-05-07T13:36:19","slug":"dec-wildlife-biologist-stone-claims-victim-of-conspiracy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/05\/07\/dec-wildlife-biologist-stone-claims-victim-of-conspiracy\/","title":{"rendered":"DEC wildlife biologist Stone claims he is victim of conspiracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ward Stone, the legendary Department of Environmental Conservation wildlife pathologist, appeared yesterday on <a href=\"http:\/\/thecapitolpressroom.org\/the-capitol-pressroom-program-for-may-6-2010\/\">The Capital Pressroom, on WCNY radio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the interview, he claimed that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/ASPStories\/Story.asp?storyID=927191&amp;newsdate=5\/7\/2010&amp;BCCode=MBTA\">an expose written by Albany Times-Union<\/a> correspondent Jim Odato was part of a conspiracy aimed at discrediting him.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what Odato wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Documents obtained by the Times Union show that despite a host of  alleged infractions, violations and &#8220;unlawful&#8221; actions for years,  including citations for misusing state resources and living full time on  the premises of the Department of Environmental Conservation wildlife  center, Stone has faced little more than a few counseling memos.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Odato also posted video allegedly taken in Stone&#8217;s office at the DEC&#8217;s laboratory near Albany, acquired from state officials through a Freedom Of Information Law request.<\/p>\n<p><embed src=\"http:\/\/c.brightcove.com\/services\/viewer\/federated_f8\/769549532\" bgcolor=\"#FFFFFF\" flashVars=\"videoId=82703987001&#038;playerId=769549532&#038;viewerSecureGatewayURL=https:\/\/console.brightcove.com\/services\/amfgateway&#038;servicesURL=http:\/\/services.brightcove.com\/services&#038;cdnURL=http:\/\/admin.brightcove.com&#038;domain=embed&#038;autoStart=false&#038;\" base=\"http:\/\/admin.brightcove.com\" name=\"flashObj\" width=\"486\" height=\"412\" seamlesstabbing=\"false\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" swLiveConnect=\"true\" pluginspage=\"http:\/\/www.macromedia.com\/shockwave\/download\/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash\"><\/embed><\/p>\n<p>In the interview yesterday, Stone denied all the claims made by Odato&#8217;s sources and said that his phone and computer had been monitored, and that he was followed in his car.\u00a0\u00a0 He linked the alleged <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailymail.net\/articles\/2010\/05\/05\/news\/doc4be0f1d4d6e83727215017.txt\">&#8220;smear&#8221; to his role in monitoring pollution from the Lafarge cement plant in the Hudson Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was great prejudice against me [within the DEC] and it was for no other reason than jealousy and the fact that I was doing a lot of important and good things,&#8221;
