Michael Arcuri, whose district includes a slice of the North Country around Old Forge, is viewed as one of the most vulnerable Democrats in New York state.<\/p>\n<p>He faces a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uticaod.com\/topstories\/x1332179786\/Company-that-donated-to-Hanna-Arcuri-crossed-the-line\">tough and well-funded challenge<\/a> from businessman Richard Hanna.<\/p>\n<p>But the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/06\/25\/us\/politics\/25memo.html?partner=rss&amp;emc=rss\">New York Times <\/a>is reporting that the Arcuri-Hanna race falls in one of those parts of the country where the economy seems to be reviving.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>About a quarter of the House races The Times expects to be competitive  in metropolitan areas that are projected by Moody\u2019s to have had  positive, albeit mostly modest, after-tax personal income growth between  2009 and 2010.<\/p>\n<p>They include several swing districts in upstate New York  that have long struggled economically but largely escaped the real  estate bubble.<\/p>\n<p>In New York\u2019s 24th Congressional District, for example, Representative  Mike Arcuri, a Democrat, said he senses the improvement but has to be  careful about how he couches it with voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey just want to know there\u2019s light at the end of the tunnel,\u201d he  said. \u201cI think they\u2019re just starting to see that.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Will the glimmer of better times be enough to boost incumbents like Arcuri &#8212; not to mention Reps.
