{"id":2356,"date":"2010-07-09T09:14:56","date_gmt":"2010-07-09T13:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=2356"},"modified":"2010-07-16T16:35:26","modified_gmt":"2010-07-16T20:35:26","slug":"north-country-tea-party-to-host-paladino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/07\/09\/north-country-tea-party-to-host-paladino\/","title":{"rendered":"North Country tea party to host Paladino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UNYTEA&#8217;s Mark Barie has been offering up the North Country tea party movement as a slightly different animal to the national tea party movement.<\/p>\n<p>On occasion, he has actively distanced himself from some of the more outrageous stuff &#8212; the talk about guns, the potential for armed revolt, the racially charged language.<\/p>\n<p>That kinder, gentler UNYTEA message might be blurred a bit when the group hosts a visit by Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino.<\/p>\n<p>Paladino has waded into a number of controversies over the past few months, including an unsubstantiated rant in Watertown recently<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/06\/24\/paladino-in-watertown-daily-times-paterson-a-drug-addict\/\"> in which he accused Governor David Paterson of being a drug addict<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Barie embraces Paladino&#8217;s fiery rhetoric, calling him a breath of fresh air.\u00a0 This from UNYTEA&#8217;s press release.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWith all due respect, Rick Lazio [also seeking the GOP nomination] impresses me as the kind of guy who would bring a knife to a gun fight\u201d, said Barie.<\/p>\n<p>The grassroots organizer added, \u201cWe area at a point in our state\u2019s history where we need strong and independent leadership.
