{"id":2639,"date":"2010-09-14T08:44:42","date_gmt":"2010-09-14T12:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=2639"},"modified":"2010-09-14T11:28:33","modified_gmt":"2010-09-14T15:28:33","slug":"for-democrats-8-is-the-loneliest-number-this-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/09\/14\/for-democrats-8-is-the-loneliest-number-this-november\/","title":{"rendered":"For Democrats, 8 is the loneliest number this November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/elections.nytimes.com\/2010\/forecasts\/house\">best survey of the November House elections<\/a> I&#8217;ve found shows that Republicans are expected to emerge from the contest with a narrow majority of seats at 225-210.<\/p>\n<p>If this prediction holds true, it means that out of the roughly 70 vulnerable seats now held by Democrats, they need to find a way to eke out another eight victories.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a tiny number out of the 435 contests nationwide, and it gives a clear sense that despite all the rhetoric to the contrary Democrats are still in the hunt for a (razor-thin) majority.<\/p>\n<p>But in this political climate, it won&#8217;t be easy.
