Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is, perhaps, one of the telling differences between primary night and election night:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There is a vote on <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%23DADT\" target=\"_blank\">#DADT<\/a> next wk. Anyone qualified to serve this country should be allowed to<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Don&#8217;t Ask, Don&#8217;t Tell is the long-standing military policy of not asking a recruit&#8217;s sexual orientation and not expecting that recruit to state clearly what his or her orientation may be.<\/p>\n<p>A federal court ruled this policy unconstitutional last week.<\/p>\n<p>Painting with a broad brush, the Right has talked about DADT in terms of military readiness and morale, i.e. &#8220;Why change the policy while our troops are at war?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>DADT never sat well with the Left, which sought to undue or override it almost since its adoption during the Clinton Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Gillibrand has repeatedly called for ending the policy. She&#8217;s even become one of the more vocal opponents of DADT in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>And, with three more hours before the polls closed, she tweeted about it on primary day.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re not likely to see this issue tweeted on November 2nd. So, what&#8217;s the calculation in mentioning it today?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not, &#8220;I&#8217;m mad as hell and I&#8217;m not going to take it anymore!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But, Gillibrand and\/or her campaign staff think this may cement her stance on the issue with core voters and get some of these Democrats to polling places.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Canton 8:05pm) This tweet from Sen.
